Answering the "Is this one of those MLM things?" question


This is probably the most feared question of all and once you read this help post that will never be the case again.  The sooner you understand the absolute difference between what we are doing with Team JP and Juice PLUS+, our unique infrastructure and support, our professional commercial business approach, and the most important difference in our opportunity from a marketing plan perspective, the sooner you will enjoy sharing our opportunity with others.  So let's get down to the facts!

In order to keep this as straight forward and simple as possible I am listing our unique points of difference in bullet points.  How you choose to work these bullet points into your response I will leave up to you as everyone has their own language and their own style and we don't want a team of robots!  The key is that you really do understand how we are different and why being with Team JP is unlike being with any other product business opportunity out there.  I have identified the key point in black, the problems/issues with other opportunities in red, and the benefits and key points of difference in our business in green.

My opening line is always this:  "While Juice PLUS+ has its origins in Direct Marketing and comes from a Direct Marketing background what we are achieving and doing at Team JP is to take what is simply the best product of its type in the world today, and implementing it within a professional commercial environment in the fitness industry.  We focus on the commercial development of business with Juice PLUS+, we have the backing of the first and largest fitness industry training body, and we are the only business ever to have achieved anything like what we are achieving globally."

  • The No.1 problem/issue/concern that I came across in interviewing people in the fitness industry (and outside the fitness industry) when it came to product opportunities that were with Direct Marketing companies was the fact that:
    • in order to maintain a commission paying position a franchisee had to have a minimum monthly turnover/spend - i.e. if you were at say 9% commissions and you had a month where you did not meet the minimum monthly volume turnover required ($400 appears to be about the standard) then you lose the 9% commission position and slide back to 0%.  You need to start all over again in building to the various positions available in the sales and marketing plan.
    • Franchisees were fearful of losing their commission paying position and spent more money each month buying more products simply to retain their commission position.  This accumulation of stock was not selling, and the franchisees were left with up to $1,000's of dollars in useless stock that they simply could not move because the market was not interested.
    • We do not have this with the Juice PLUS+ opportunity - all positions once reached are permanent and you can only ever go forward in the sales and marketing plan
  • All other product business opportunities are recruitment focused and not product focused - the majority of the volume moved through these businesses moves through the franchisee team, and not out to retail customers.
    • As a business development consultant it did not take me long to recognise that this was a strong indicator that these other products could not stand on their own feet in the retail market place, they were not a consumable product that had enough value in the market place to compete toe to toe, and for this reason, the entire business marketing plan is based on recruiting vast numbers into your business team and having all these people consume products which they purchase for their own use
    • We do not have this with the Juice PLUS+ opportunity - the vast majority of volume movement in our business is done through the acquisition of retail customers via the Preferred Customer Program.  We are a product focused company, with the No.1 selling whole food concentrate in the world.  Our product stands proudly on its own feet with strength in a market that is becoming tired of isolated, cheap, synthetic multivitamin products, and is readily embraced by a consumer market that is becoming more informed and making ever better choices for their nutritional supplementation.  We do have the ability to create a business team with us if we choose to do so, however, again the focus of our business is for each team member to become a "Qualified Business" and develop a customer base of 40 customers on the Preferred Customer Program which they maintain.
  • Team JP Wellness Partners has developed a strong and unique business implementation model for the fitness industry - one that is embraced by business owners, is completely transparent and of high integrity in the industry, and which creates a solid win/win for all involved.
    • In every interview I held with both trainers and business owners alike the same underlying lack of professionalism in the approach was revealed.  People in their naivety and with a lack of business development skills would approach a personal trainer to recruit them to sell products in the fitness centers that they worked in.  This approach is completely unethical unless the trainer in question is the owner of the business because the database, the clients they are training, and the members of the facility are the property of the business and not of the trainer employed by the business!  If the trainer is an employee within someone else's business and begins to register customers or sell products to those clients and members they are soliciting the clients and members of the business which is completely unprofessional and inappropriate!
    • Eventually the owner of the business would find out that the trainer is selling products for their own gain to the members and clients of the gym/fitness center and understandably would shut the whole thing down, have a very poor impression of the trainer, have a very poor impression of the products, and of anyone or anything to do with these products!
    • This is the exact behaviour and small thinking that has caused the issues in the market place that we are all developing business in.

    • In order to successfully support the implementation of Juice PLUS+ within a fitness business in a commercial environment we have developed the Team JP University intranet site to provide product and business knowledge, information, support and training that is above and beyond anything that has been seen anywhere in the world.  We can start multiple trainers all at the same time and facilitate a smooth and easy learning process, equipping them quickly to be effective in developing their Preferred Customer Base.  We take the onerous task of teaching, training, development largely away from the business owner, allowing them to maintain focus on their core business and all that is required from them is to establish a strong nutrition based culture within their facility, and to provide a fun and nurturing environment for their trainers to flourish and grow their business while helping clients significantly improve their health, wellness and results from their training.
  • Team JP Wellness Partners are the first Juice PLUS+ support business to ever gain the backing of a National industry body (the Australian Institute of Fitness).
    • This is unprecedented...it has never occurred in history with any other product opportunity.  The AIF has done its due diligence on Juice PLUS+ and on the Team JP model for Juice PLUS+ within the industry and is extremely supportive on all fronts - so much so that it actively encourages and recommends to all of the fitness businesses that are associated with them as "Career Partners" to meet with Team JP and seriously consider the implementation of Juice PLUS+ with Team JP within their business!
