With some very special events coming up around Australia as Dany Martin visits Australia I felt it was a good time to do some training with regards to promoting events to build your business. Like anything in your business if you approach this haphazard, without focus, and with no real intention you will fail to get a result. Conversely if you approach this with structure and order, with a clear process, with focus on achieving the desired result of getting people to attend the event, and with clear and real intention you will achieve success, you will have people at the events, and you will grow your business.
I want to remind you up front that Dany Martin earns US$175,000 per month from his Juice PLUS+ business. That is not a typing error.... US$175,000 per month just in case you missed it the first time.
Some of you are just not thinking straight about your business. You are apathetic about what you have in your hands, or you have not made an effort to get to one of the big picture events that take place around the country to allow you to fully understand how big this business is, and how big the opportunity is that you have been given. If you are sitting there reading this and thinking "hmmm I think that is me" then you owe it to yourself to wake up and make a commitment to understanding what you are missing out on. Opportunity does not knock that often in life.... and opportunity like this one knocks once if it knocks at all. If you choose to be lazy, if you choose to be apathetic about this opportunity then you will be waiting a long, long time before that knock on the door comes again and I would not advise that you hold your breath. I have said it before, and will say it again - we are in a very unique time in the wellness market and the time to strike is NOW.
Start With A List
As with most of the work required to build your business, promoting an event will start with you making a list of everyone you can think of. Do not pre-judge, do not leave people off this list, just get out some paper and start writing everyone you can think of down. Friends, family, colleagues from work, your doctor, your chiropractor, your naturopath, your dentist, your buddies from soccer/football/netball or whatever it is that you do socially...everyone means everyone without fail. So what if you invite them and they decline? Has it cost you anything? No. What if you don't invite them and they are interested..... does it cost you anything? You bet it does...and you will not know how much because if they are interested in looking at this opportunity you have no idea what they might go out and create.
Jeff Roberti NSA's No.1 earner was a 20 year old waiter in a run down diner when someone invited him to look at your business. Now he is the close to $100million in earnings with NSA and will be the first person in Direct Marketing history to break the $100million mark. You never know who the next Jeff Roberti will be... and if you don't share the opportunity and your product with people, you will certainly never have a chance of having them in your business. That sadly is your own fault so don't leave people off your list or pre-judge!
Once you have this initial list and you can think of no one else you have your starting point. Now you must start to organise this list according to the events that are taking place so that you can make calls and talk to the people on your list that are appropriate for the specific event. I use an event organiser spreadsheet included here for your use: Event Organiser
You can use this template or create something like it for yourself to use if you like...the important thing is that you have something that will help you to be effective, organise your process, and help you manage the process.
In the spreadsheet provided (for the upcoming Dany Martin Tour) I am currently building for the Sydney and Melbourne events. So the first thing I have done is to identify the 4 different events that are taking place and then I have also separated the cities I am building for. Next is simply to include the names of the contacts I want to invite to each specific event "Contact Name 1" "Contact Name 2" etc. I then have 4 columns - "emailed" "phoned" "personal" "RSVP".... this is the process that needs to be followed to ensure you have given it your best shot to get the person to the event. Fall short on this process and you will reduce your chance drastically of getting your contact to the event. If you want to short cut your business then you had better set yourself some pretty small goals and not think about an income over some pocket money. Big businesses are not built on laziness, apathy and shortcuts - simple as that.
The first contact I make is via email simply because this allows me to cover the most ground quickly in getting the information out to my list. This is only the start of the process though and on a scale of 1-10 rates about a 2 in importance. Email is impersonal... it does not have any feeling, emotion, importance associated with it and if you expect to be able to "bomb a market" with email and get a result then set your sights low again. This type of contacting campaign will yield about 1%-3% that is 1-3 out of every 100. If that's good enough for your business then great... but it sure is not good enough for mine so I move through to the next contact which is by phone. This is where the rubber really hits the road for successfully promoting an event....more personal contact with each person on your list. During your phone call be enthusiastic and share why this event is a great one for your contact to be at. Nothing bothers me more than when someone is sharing their story, whether it is product or business and they are monotone, unmotivated and just plain boring! Can you picture yourself going to an event that is promoted this way? Didn't think so.... so don't expect anyone else to! It's YOUR BUSINESS... so get fired up about it! Once you have established their interest you can ask them to confirm that they have received the email that you have previously sent with more information about the event and ask them to read through it and then confirm with you that they are attending. Right here is where you also want to ask them if there is anyone they know who would like to go with them and let them know that they can bring people along with them. YOU ARE A BUSINESS BUILDER SO THINK ABOUT LEVERAGE... HOW CAN I TURN 1 PERSON INTO SEVERAL PEOPLE? That way you are increasing your chances of a result from the event! Be smart...work smart.
Next is the most useful and effective means of all....personal face to face with your contact. This is by far the most effective way to get guests to confirm and lock into an event with you. So when you are out and about with people INVITE THEM, and then follow up when you are at home with Step 1 - the email, and then Step 2 - the phone call to double confirm their attendance. If you have room in your car then the best thing is to arrange to pick them up and take them with you!
Work diligently at promoting events and getting good numbers to them and your business will explode!
